Frequently Asked Questions PDF Print E-mail

The following are some of the questions that are frequently asked by couples regarding our wedding photography services.

Q: How long does it take for all the traditional photographs at the church or wedding site?

A: This is probably the most frequently asked question and depends upon the situation, the size of wedding party and amount of family. However, we typically recommend between 75 to 90 minutes to be safe and assuming you are doing all the pictures prior to the wedding. If you want to follow the tradition of the groom not seeing the bride prior, then we typically suggest allowing 60 minutes prior and another 30 to 45 minutes after.  Furthermore, the general rule of thumb is to be completed shooting photos approximately 30 minutes prior to the wedding since guests will begin arriving. Following this logic, if you have a 3:00 p.m. wedding, we typically recommend start shooting by 1:00 p.m.   This will allow a comfortable amount of time and gets the couple out of the way of arriving guests.

Q: So, when do you typically arrive and start shooting?

A: First, we will arrive as early as you want on your wedding day and depending upon the package you select.  For the majority of weddings, we arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to the time we've agreed upon to start shooting the wedding photos.  This allows us to shoot some of the final "preparation" pictures.

Q:  Do you have back-up equipment?

A:  Yes, we have duplicate of everything essential to photograph a wedding.

Q:  Do you shoot black and white?

A:  All of photography is shot digitially which translates very well into black and white photographs.

Q:  Can we select one of the "ala carte" options more than once?

A:  Absolutely.  The great thing about our "ala carte" menu options is that it allows you to tailor your package to best fit your needs.

Q:  Can we stop somewhere like a park to take photographs?

A:  Absolutely.  Our goal is to provide you beautiful pictures from your wedding day.  One of our favorite things is when couples build time into the schedule to stop somewhere like a park to take pictures.  Some of our best wedding pictures have been away from the church or reception site.

Q:  Do you ever stop with the couple if they go somewhere between the wedding and reception?

A:  Yes.  We have ridden on trollies, buses and stopped at the bar with a number of couples.   If it's part of your wedding day, then we want to be there to capture the moment.

Q:  When should we shoot engagement photos?

A:  That all depends upon how you plan to use them. Some couples only want the photos at the time of the wedding while other couples submit them for publication in the newspaper or give them as gifts at Christmas time.  While engagement pictures can be done rather quickly, it still is best to get them done a few months before the weddding since you will find yourself rather busy in the month leading up to the wedding.

Q:  Where do you recomend shooting engagement photos?

A:  Our favorite is to shoot outside in a natural setting or somewhere like the Old Market. So, if the timing works to wait till the weather is nice, then that's our first recommendation.

Q: I know we get the wedding pictures on disk, but do we also get the engagement photos?

A: Yes. We typically provide them on the final disk with all the wedding pictures. However, if you need them earlier, we can provide them to you. Some couples get the pictures, or at least their final selection, early so they can use it for invitations or for Christmas cards.
